Last time I was at Ancora was during last year’s Dine Out Vancouver. I was still pregnant and now baby is almost 3 months old. To celebrate Motherhood and my friend’s pregnancy we decided to head over to Ancora for brunch! I love the bright open space and how roomy it is. The restaurant isn’t too loud and is perfect to bring a baby.
But. first. coffee.
Brunch service is only available on the weekends.
WINDBERRY FARM CHICKEN AND WAFFLES 20: spiced syrup, avocado puree, house bacon and botanical greens. While we thought fried chicken and waffles would be heavy and a bit of an indulgent, this c&w was well battered and not greasy whatsoever.
DUCK CONFIT CASSOULET 25: Peruvian beans with two poached eggs and kale salad. If you are looking for a more substantial entree, this one’s for your. Flavourful and gratifying.
Listen to your Mom and eat your vegetables. We like a side of crispy brussels sprouts!
PERUVIAN STYLE PAELLA 21: black cod croquettes, chorizo, Peruvian corn, shellfish, one poached egg with paprika aioli. I love this dish and its departure from an everyday Brunch menu item. This was deliciously made with hearty wild black rice.
BLUE AND GREY 12: I never say no to anything Earl Grey and Lavender especially when it’s a Earl Grey, blueberry and lavender ice cream with Earl Grey shortbread!!
If you are looking for a place for Brunch on this weekend, I highly recommend you try Ancora’s menu! Let me know what you think and leave a comment below!

Having hard wood floors means there’s a lot of dust that is visible. Now that our baby girl is doing more tummy time it is so important to keep things super clean! Miele recently just released the Blizzard CX1 – it is their first bagless vacuum with innovative vortex technology. I am so excited to try the product before it hits the market in Canada!
Out of the box, the Miele Blizzard CX1 is sleek looking. The black is slender with dark panels that is streamlined. It comes with a clear bin that offers you a window view of the cyclone bagless system. Although the Miele Blizzard CX1 vacuum isn’t small compared to a Dyson handheld V6, it certainly means business! I like the easy switch between hard floors and carpet.
Innovative Vortex Technology
- air passes through one single, large cyclone providing a quiet, yet powerful and convenient cleaning performance with four power settings that can be easily controlled.
- Hard-floor cleaning
- Large and easy to empty bin
- Hygienic emptying and filtration – coarse particles are separated from fine dust
- Serious suction and air flow
- Comfort cable rewind
- Integrated accessories with quick release handle / brush
- Heavy for stairs
- Not portable
- Cables could be longer
The Miele Blizzard CX1 starting price is CAD $699. It is currently available for pre-orders. It is released Friday, Sept 29 in Canada.

Having missed the media launch party being super pregnant and all, it was nice to enjoy a delicious drink at the bar. They offer a strong bar program that includes cocktails, wine, ciders, beer and Mezcal.
We enjoyed a quiet afternoon on the patio before the lunch crowd rolled in. There are perks in being on Maternity Leave!
Four Winds Brewing – this liquid sunshine is like summer in a bottle. Deliciously brewed in reverence of the old world sour wheat ales of Berlin, this Berliner-style Weisse is light in body with a faint earthy mineral essence. Sour in nature and refreshingly effervescent.
Guacamole 12: Crispy Sunchokes, Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, and Macedonian Feta.
Grilled Cactus and zucchini salad 13: avocado and citrus vinaigrette, mashed pinto beans and red grain rice. Option for queso fresco for $2.
Braised Beef Tongue Torta 12: spicy birria broth, pickled carrots and onions, avocado and queso fresco. The beef tongue was delicious and tender on its own.
