Long’s Noodle House Vancouver 小龍記麵家 is located on Main Street beside Au Petite Cafe. The space is super small and perhaps no bigger than someone’s master bedroom. Despite the limited space and long line up during lunch and dinner, they have one of the best drunken chicken and xiao long baos. Long’s XLB are juicy and plump with a tad of gelatin aspic.
Drunken Chicken: The chicken drunk in wine was served in a small porcelain jar. The drunken chicken was served slightly warm. I personally preferred it served cold. Wine chicken tastes more refreshing when served cold. Here, the warm chicken tasted slightly mushy.
Wonton in Spicy Sauce: Coated in a sweet yet spicy chili oil. It is really not very spicy. Spicy Wontons are a great alternative than your typical wonton noodles.
Tan Tan Noodle with Meat Sauce: This version of tan tan noodles included a sauteed meat gravy. This added meat sauce added a punch to the creamy peanut sesame sauce. This is a heavy and rich noodle. I always find it difficult to finish it on my own. I prefer to share this.
Smoked Fish: Marinated with dark soy sauce, shaoxing wine, suage and spices. Smoked fish is one of my favorite Shanghai appetizers.
Overall, Long’s Noodle House Vancouver was decent but short of spectacular. It is a good place to go to if you are in the area and craving XLB.
