 ‘Restaurant-within-a-restaurant’ Concept Welcomes Eight Guests Per Month for Intimate Chef’s Table Dining Experience with Custom Décor, Printed Tickets, Keepsake Gifts and More

Culinary aficionados will bear witness to an exclusive world-class dining experience this May when L’Abattoir co-owners, celebrated chef Lee Cooper and renowned restaurateur Paul Grunberg, unveil a brand-new chef’s-table-styled ‘restaurant-within-a-restaurant’ concept: No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews, with tickets released May 1.

Located in the historic cobblestone Gaoler’s Mews courtyard behind the intimate, brick-and-beam environs of L’Abattoir, No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews offers an exclusive opportunity for eight guests per month to indulge in a true VIP experience that will see Chef Cooper prepare and present his signature brand of celebrated French-via-West-Coast cuisine before their very eyes.

Hosted by Grunberg and L’Abattoir Wine Director Lisa Haley, No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews offers a truly unparalleled experience for guests from beginning to end — from an elegant welcome package mailed in advance, fine crystal glassware and table settings to custom décor and keepsake gifts.

“Developing the No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews concept has been a true labour of love for myself, Lee and our entire team and we are beyond thrilled to introduce this exclusive opportunity to our guests,” says Grunberg. “We look forward to pushing the envelope and welcoming our guests for these indulgent and ultra exclusive evenings.”

The first of its kind in Vancouver, No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews follows in the footsteps of a number of notable ‘restaurant-within-a-restaurant’ concepts such as É by José Andrés (Las Vegas), Blanca (New York) and Kitchen Table (London).

TICKETS & DATES

No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews launches its first exclusive dinner on Friday, May 19, with subsequent monthly dates in 2017 set for June 23, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 29, Oct. 27 and Nov. 24. Tickets to the first three No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews dining experiences will be released on Monday, May 1 at 10 a.m. at www.gaolersmews.com.

ABOUT L’ABATTOIR | Opened in the heart of historic Gastown in 2010, L’Abattoir is situated in a refurbished 19th-century heritage brick-and-beam building that pays homage to its history as the site of Vancouver’s first jail in the city’s main meat-packing district. Today, L’Abattoir has staked its reputation as an award-winning spot to sample a diverse array of French-inspired West Coast fare with a focus on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients as well as an ever-changing selection of classic and signature cocktails and an eclectic list of Old-World and B.C. wines available in its front-of-house bar and lounge, elevated dining room and private, glass-and-steel-accented atrium. L’Abattoir offers dinner from Sunday to Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Happy Hour daily from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and bar service until midnight seven days a week.
