Award-winning chef and restaurateur Angus An new noodle stall, Sen Pad Thai in Granville Island’s Net Loft is now open. While Chef Angus’s Fat Mao eatery serves bowls of comforting soup noodles, Sen Pai Thai’s focus will be variations of dry noodle dishes. Inspired by food stands in Chanthaburi, Thailand, long noodles will be served in meal-sized portions, with optional accompaniments of snacks and sides. Open daily from 10am–7pm, Sen Pad Thai will be found at #70–1666 Johnston Street, adjacent to the Granville Island Public Market, and will share common-area seats with the Net Loft’s neighbouring vendors.

The menu is being finalized, but will focus on stir fried noodles similar to pad Thai, flavoured with spices, herbs, and proteins like chicken, pork, beef, and seafood. Side dishes will also be on offer, from Thai chicken wings to lighter fare like papaya salad. Chef Angus is also planning a small selection of desserts featuring flavours like pandan, taro and coconut, and drinks will include Pok Pok sodas and Thai iced tea. Sen Pad Thai will be open for eat-in or take-out orders.

Sen Pad Thai is the fifth addition to Chef Angus An’s family of eateries. Maenam, Chef Angus’s flagship Kitsilano restaurant and Vancouver magazine’s 2016 Restaurant of the Year, serves authentic Thai cuisine complemented by a smart wine list and range of Asian-inspired cocktails. In recent years Chef Angus has expanded his reach to the Vancouver suburb of New Westminster, where sister restaurant Longtail Kitchen serves Thai street food, and sibling Freebird Chicken Shack grills, fries, and roasts flavourful Asian-style chicken dishes. Chef Angus also serves casual noodle soups and sides at Fat Mao Noodles in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown neighbourhood.
