Our cleanse began with a wheatgrass shot and refreshing kombucha. Dave doesn’t like kombucha. He thinks it tastes funny like old socks. But I am totally into fermented tea! Perhaps it is an acquired taste like Uni (sea urchin).

Raspberry Kombucha 7: kombucha, raspberry, lemon juice, honey, soda water.

Be Love also offers a bunch of superfood cocktails that are both healthy and tasty.

Bayou Bowl 16: Grilled BBQ tempeh, fresh corn, veggies and sprouts, dirty spiced quinoa and black beans with southern greens, avocado and chipotle aioli.

I love the vibrate colors of this Buddha bowl filled with Macronutrients and free from processed sugar, wheat, dairy and gluten. Although we are not Celiac and also do not suffer from gluten sensitivity, it is a nice change in pace from greasy fast food.

The salad itself is very tasty. There is a not a lot of salad dressing and no salt is added. If you prefer it salty, there are salt shakers for you to adjust to your own taste buds. But not having to add extra salt is great to keep water retention away!

Taco Salad 15: avocado, corn, black beans, cashew queso, pepitas, tomato, cilantro, green onion, veggies, sprouts, romaine, baby greens and sweet chilli lime dressing. I thought I wouldn’t be full, so I also added a soft boiled egg. The egg was very much a hard boiled instead.

If I am ever back in Victoria, I definitely will come back to Be Love. Eating superfoods simply makes me so happy to nourish myself with fresh ingredients. I wish someone would make this for me everyday!

Bard and Banker Victoria, BC has an interesting history since it first opened in 1862 as the Bank of British Columbia until 1988. Robert Service emerged as an notable employee and wrote poems such as The Cremation of Sam McGee, etc. Although you may not care for poems and stories, but looking at the historic photos, one can`t help but wonder what life would`ve been like hundreds of years ago. I like my technology, so I probably would not cope well if ever transported back.

Compared to bars in London, ones that that have been refurbished Grace Bar Piccadilly with beautiful bird cages and white chairs, Bard and Banker is classy. It`s maintained the classical gentlemen charisma and charm. Gold and brass finishing with dark wooden furnishing and upholstered leather booth seats.  Live music runs Wednesday thru Saturday nights, defining the ultimate pub experience.

It`s almost hard to picture the empty 12000 sq.ft. bank below transformed into today`s pub serving domestic, imported beers, scotch, cocktails and even lunch specials. What an experience it was to swirl my glass of Macallan 25. I can`t say that the service was great or the food was delicious; but love the swagger and its decor.

Superior Restaurant Victoria (James Bay)

WHAT? No smiley suns? No checkered table clothes nor a menu laced with fluffy pancakes? Which rabbit hole did I fall into when we arrived at the door steps of The Superior Victoria? The interior is eccentric. It is like a teenage rebellion away from the norm. […]
