Toyotomi Richmond | Hot Pot and Japanese AYCE 豐臣家

When it comes to hot pot or Japanese sushi, Toyotomi Richmond doesn’t necessary roll off the tongue easily. One reason probably because I simply do not enjoy All You Can Eat – especially when it comes to raw fish. Quality over Quantity. Buy Less Choose Well. Are some moto that I live by. 豐臣家 Toyotomi Richmond is rather hidden from the main stay of Alexandra Road. There is a parking lot upstairs but is usually full. So street parking is your friend.

Toyotomi offers both AYCE hot pot and Japanese sushi and sashimi. AYCE hotpot is $14. The addition of the AYCE sashimi is $6. You can not order just AYCE sashimi without the hot pot. Toyotomi has a wide variety of soup bases to choose for additional charge – around $7 to $9. You all in head cost is $28 pre tax and tips. It is pricey. Generally speaking the food was decent for AYCE. But for $30, I can order some pretty kick ass Japanese meal else where.

A general rule to keep in mind is that only about 60% of what you order will arrive. You will need to follow up a few times if you are dying for that one sushi platter. They are usually understaffed on the weekends so except slow service.

The presentation of the food was respectable. The meat were piled nicely and sashimi was lined and served on ice. Tho some of the sashimi pieces were still icy, it did not taste stale or warm. God Forbid! My friends really enjoyed their beef tataki (raw beef). It had nice flavoring but I didn’t indulge in it for fear of a stomach ache.

Toyotomi Richmond has a dessert section to the restaurant where I’ve heard serve some mean cakes. I, myself have not tried it yet. Let me know how it was if you’ve been! Everything else is just o.k.
