Sweet Bake Shop Vancouver Yaletown is a boutique bakery by local female entrepreneur Tessa Sam. Sweet Bake Shop started from her home kitchen in 2010. Girlie and whimsical sugar cookies soon captured the hearts of many Instagram followers; mine included. I’m so thrilled that this pink colored bakery is easily accessible and I no longer need to make an appointment to eat cake.
Sweet Bake Shop began as an creative outlet and a passion for baking. Not only is it fashionable, it is quite delicious. The beautiful storefront is cute and something out of a Pinterest Board. The cupcakes are soft, fluffy and moist. The icing is sweet but not over the top.
Cupcakes $3 each for $33 per dozen
Sweet Bake Shop Cupcake Flavors
- Vanilla Buttermilk: Fluffy vanilla cupcake, topped with whipped vanilla bean frosting
- Banana Caramel: Moist banana cupcake, topped with vanilla frosting and drizzled with house-made caramel
- Red Velvet: Moist red velvet cupcake, topped with vanilla cream cheese frosting
- Confetti Sprinkle: Fluffy vanilla cupcakes, baked with confetti sprinkles, topped with whipped vanilla frosting and more confetti sprinkles
- Classic Carrot: Moist carrot cupcake, topped with vanilla cream cheese frosting
- Chocolate & Vanilla: Moist chocolate cupcake, topped with whipped vanilla buttercream
- Blueberry Lemon: Blueberry & lemon cupcake, topped with fresh lemon frosting
- Chocolate Hazelnut: Moist chocolate cupcake, topped with whipped chocolate hazelnut frosting
- Lemon & Raspberry: Lemon & raspberry cupcake, topped with fresh lemon frosting
- Double Chocolate: Moist chocolate cupcake, topped with whipped chocolate frosting
- Mint Chocolate: Moist chocolate cupcake, topped with whipped peppermint frosting
- Chocolate Strawberry: Moist Chocolate Cupcake, topped with fresh strawberry frosting
Classic Carrot: Moist carrot cupcake, topped with vanilla cream cheese frosting with sprinkles. This was one of my favorite! Nothing like a comforting classic carrot cake!
French Cupcake: The best of both worlds – cupcake topped with macaron. The soft crunchy shell with a moist sweet center. I liked how the cupcake itself was less sweet and simple to balance the icing and macaron.
Pumpkin Spiced Cupcake: Pumpkin is the new Bacon and perhaps also pairs perfectly well with a PSL next door.
If fluffy clouds sugar cookies and ombre cakes don’t win your heart, I don’t know what will!

Any how can one go to Napa Valley and not visit Yountville? Afterall, this is where Thomas Keller’s famous restaurant The French Laundry, Bouchon, Bouchon Bakery, and Ad Hoc are located. Each within steps of one another.
Napa Valley is a gorgeous place much like Summerland, Okanagan, BC. The autumn crisp air and changing colored leaves are dreamy. It makes having an almond croissant and a coffee outside on the patio that much more enjoyable![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13398″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Bouchon Bakery in Napa Valley Yountville is in the heart of California. This bakery started as a production facility to produce bread and pastries to Thomas Keller’s restaurants. It soon became a standalone French Style Bakery!
As Pierre Herme would have it, you “should hear the croissant suffer!” The almond cream had grainy bits. It is perfect for texture. The croissant was semi-sweet and was incredibly fragrant! I will have to get more for the road trip home![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13387″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Macarons: Pistachio (left) and Lemon (right). These giant medallion sized macarons were much bigger than ones you would find at Ladurée, Thierry or any Thomas Haas. Not only were these twice the size, the skin was still smooth and cracked like an egg shell. The lemon was my favorite! Made with lemon curd and filled with buttercream. It has a bright, sweet-tart finishing. No artificial flavoring. The Pistachio was more subtle yet equally fragrant.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13391″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]When you are done your afternoon tea / coffee break, hop over to Bouchon. Beaucoup Bakery & Cafe is located on Fir St / 6th. Just before Granville Island situates a small bakery filled with pastries, 49th Parallel coffee and charm. You will recognize it by its red and white floral mural and a flock of loyal crowds. Jackie Ellis, who previously owned a design firm turned her passion of baking into reality by opening Beaucoup.
Instagram brought me to its creation of granite countertops to daily creations of chocolate rosemary cookie, almond croissant, pain au chocolate, etc. On a Sunday 1pm afternoon, there is not one seat in sight.
Lavender Earl Grey Ice Cream Macaron Sandwich (Beaucoup x Sunday Morning Ice Cream): This gourmet dessert treat was high sky of near $7 a piece. And even tho the sweltering heat of Vancouver summers (not complaining here!) nearly melted my ice cream, you could smell and taste the deep Earl Grey tea and lavender flavors. The macaron shell was soft and delicate with a nice crunch. What a treat.
Perhaps one day I can embark on those Paris Tours tasting through patisseries in Paree.

Le Panier Bakery Seattle. This a little bakery beside Starbucks in Pike Place. While hundreds poor into the Starbucks mothership waiting, I slip into Le Panier Bakery Seattle for a cup of espresso, macaroons and palmier.
Sometimes I wonder what the fuss next door is all about while I can enjoy the simplicity of sipping my joe while dreaming looking out the window. The smell of freshly baked pastry and bread is intoxicating. The staff are friendly and quick.
Their macaroons are soft and tender inside; eggshell like outside. My favourite is still their lemon and orange macaroons. The flaky and slightly sweetened palmier makes a cup of bitter joe delightful. If you are a sweet tooth do try the Chocolatine (chocolate croissant with almond cream) … Everything about this place is simple, homey sort of vibe with delicious ingredients!
Until next time Seattle.

A reason to love Mid-Autumn Moon Festival are the varieties of mooncakes 月餅 available! Although there aren’t any Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Mooncakes available in Vancouver (disappointed), at least there are plenty of ice mooncakes 冰皮月餅.
